Oh what a week that was!

The week started on 18th November 2024 with a talk to Frenchay W.I. They had a lovely load of handbags and toiletries for me to collect.
Tuesday was sorting and packing.
Wednesday was making 2 collections in the morning, thank you Janet in Westerleigh and members of St Mary’s Church, Yate (this followed on from a talk given a couple of months ago).
Up to Gloucester in the afternoon with an overloaded car. First drop – Family Haven, second drop the Nelson Trust and the third drop another Service Provider in Gloucester. Plus a call into Big Yellow storage, Eastern Avenue, to pick up some emergency already filled Happy Handbags stored there.
Back home for tea then off to Hanham W.I. where there was another car load of donations waiting for me, including a huge bag full of underwear – remember my appeal (?) knickers to Christmas – and nappies.
Thursday (today) saw some 30 Happy Handbags being dropped off at the Nelson Trust, Swindon, along with all the underwear plus bedding, clothing and hats and scarves.
Then a trip to a well known supermarket to stock up with shampoo, toothpaste and shower gels, oh gosh, I think I’ve forgotten to get the deodorants!

The Knickers to Christmas appeal was a huge success with all Service Providers receiving a few bags of pants, socks and bras, I would estimate in excess of 100 in total.
Underwear is in such short supply. If, in the after Christmas sales, you see some real bargains it would be really appreciated if you were to grab them and pass them on the Happy Handbag.
It doesn’t matter about the size, or colour – they will definitely fit some person in need.

So, tomorrow is going to be a day of rest – at least that’s the plan……
